PANEL ONE: CARTER, now showered and dressed, tosses his clothes into a trashcan located by the motel office.

NARR:
I showered, dressed-- and threw out my clothes from the day before.”

PANEL TWO: CARTER heads to the hotel diner.

NARR:
I might have still been in shock. I just went through the motions. I wanted coffee and a cigarette before I even tried to remember the previous night.

PANEL THREE: Carter sitting at the diner table with a coffee and a cigarette and staring out the window.

NARR:
I might have stared out that window forever if Baxter hadn’t interrupted.
