Carter makes the acquaintance of Jody Baxter, town mechanic, who delivers some bad news: Carter isn’t leaving Gloaming for a while. A chance remark by Carter reveals that Baxter’s time in Gloaming has given him information Carter needs to move forward with his quest to discover the origins of Tommy Jordan. Unbeknownst to Carter, Baxter has a secret that may cost Carter his life!
