PAGE TWENTY-EIGHT
PANEL ONE: The fog lifts a bit. From CARTER’S perspective, it seems as if he’s coming into a new town or something, as there are vague building silhouettes.
NARR:
Oh hey, the fog’s lifting-
PANEL TWO:The fog clears. Carter is right back where he started from, only the “exit” -- now a dead end-- is BEHIND him. Looming in the frame (but mostly out of frame) is the Welcome to GLOAMING sign, but we can’t take it in yet. He is standing alone in the street.
CARTER:
Baxter?
PANEL THREE: CARTER runs to the Auto shop, looking desperate.
CARTER:
Baxter!
PANEL FOUR: The Auto Shop--Jody’s-- is abandoned and in disrepair as if no one’s been there for twenty years. Likewise, CARTER’s car is in the shop as if it too has been there that long.
CARTER:
Oh god.
PANEL FIVE: We zoom out, leaving Carter stranded and alone.
PAGE TWENTY-SIX
PANEL ONE: We zoom further down the street, so that the edges of the green sign are visible.
PANEL TWO: We zoom out to reveal more of the sign on the side of the road, “WEL to GLO”
PANEL THREE: Splash panel. We end on the sign. “WELCOME TO GLOAMING.”
