PANEL ONE: MELISSA looks human again, and crosses her arms to her chest as if she’s cold and lonely.

MELISSA:
Tell them where I am. Someone. Anyone. My parents are gone a long time now, but I just want someone to find me. Please.

PANEL TWO: DYLAN begins to cry, looking at MELISSA being all sad and alone.

NARR:
I thought my heart would break. She looked so lost. I couldn’t imagine what it must have been like, dying in a deep dark hole like that.

DYLAN:
I will. Do you have a last name?

MELISSA:
Corregan. I’m Melissa Corregan.

PANEL THREE: DYLAN crosses one arm across his chest, as if he were hugging her but knowing better than to try to actually do it. He looks earnest, determined.

DYLAN:
Melissa, I’m going to help you.

PANEL FOUR: DYLAN, now on the other side of the fence again, is holding the ball uselessly as his friends walk away from him.

NARR:
By the time I got back, my friends didn’t want to play anymore. They said I spent too long in Oulton’s field and it was too creepy for them.

PANEL FIVE: A picture of Dylan’s Nan’s house, to establish a change of scene.

NARR:
So I did what any boy would do: I ran home to tell my Mum.

PANEL SIX: DYLAN standing in a kitchen, talking to his Nan, a kindly older Irish woman who is cooking, while looking at him to listen to his story.

NARR:
Mum wasn’t home, so I told my Nan. Being a witch, she knew all about this stuff.
