   Nice balance of jokes and character dynamics here. Mark’s inability to laugh at himself after a few quick jibes by Michael and his friends does a great job of showing a bit of a self-defeating streak in the character. Despite a few light taunts, I think it’s pretty clear that Harry and Mercy would be cool with Mark hanging out with them, but the fact that Mark refuses to join them unless they blindly agree with his opinions shows his need for control in all aspects of his life, which comes to define his character as the narrative progresses.
