PAGE THIRTY-ONE

PANEL ONE: DYLAN hands the box to the GREMLIN with one hand while wiping away the iron filings with the other.

DYLAN:
We’ve struck a bargain. Here is a show of good faith.

PANEL TWO: The GREMLIN grabs the box and scampers. DYLAN watches it go.

PANEL THREE: DUGGAN comes back into the room, cheerful as if Dylan did him a favour.

DUGGAN:
All taken care of, then?

PANEL FOUR: DUGGAN hands the cheque to DYLAN. DYLAN reads it and smiles.

DYLAN:
Oh sure, was more of a pest than a threat, really.

PANEL FIVE: DUGGAN rubs his jaw as he ponders the GREMLIN’s strange behaviour.

DUGGAN:
Strange though. Y’don’t see the fae comin’ so close to town usually. Something must have riled ‘em up.

DYLAN:
Hm. That’s true enough…wonder what it was?

PANEL SIX: DUGGAN looks thoughtful, as if reliving an unpleasant memory.

DUGGAN:
So long as it’s not like it was when I was a lad. They were proper angry then.
