PANEL ONE: (wide to fit all the dialogue)Back to present day, with MISTER PUNCH shackled to the wall in his cell. He is excited at telling this part of the story, leaning toward the audience, pulling on his shackles.

MR. PUNCH:
Whoo! So there I was, about to be apprenticed to a winged gorilla. At the time, I wasn’t exactly chuffed about this news; I had half-hoped they would take the key and send me home, but the situation was more complex, more dangerous, than I yet knew!

PANEL TWO: PUNCH looks off-screen to where the sound of an electronic, sliding door is heard.

SFX:
Click-CLAK SHHHHHHHH

PUNCH:
Oh, speaking of dangerous situations, here comes my current one.

PANEL THREE: JANE SMART enters the room. This should be a long panel of looking at her from head to toe: From her bowler hat to her stylish shoes. She is every inch Mr. PUNCH’s opposite. Icy cold, calm, neat as a pin, and in control.

NARR:
Jane Smart, kids. Yes, that’s her real name. She’s sort of middle management in The System, and she’s the one who captured me.

NARR2:
I assure you, she’s terribly proud of herself.

PANEL FOUR: JANE stands over PUNCH, looking down at him. He looks up at her, cheerfully, as if glad to see her. She looks pleased with herself, as PUNCH just said.

PUNCH:
Hullo, Jane.

JANE:
Hullo, Punch. To whom were you speaking?

PANEL FIVE: PUNCH looks to the side, directly at us. JANE looks at us too, but can’t see us.

PUNCH:
Oh! My audience.

JANE:
What audience? There’s no one here.

PANEL SIX: Close up on PUNCH as he winks at us.

NARR:
Oh, Jane. I ALWAYS have an audience.
